Down Memory Lane...Shah Alam pt 2

On Tuesday after work around 6pm I made way to Shah Alam. Already had plans to meet these kids at 9pm to discuss on the final presentation for DP1. After check in the hotel, I went straight to my school (yes we call it school!!). The kids were waiting and I can see nervousness in them. After going through their slides, I made them present once, and along the way I corrected few that I think would be relevant.

I gave them few pointers and also shared my pet peeves when it comes to presentation (things like pointing with finger, definitely a big NO). I can see there are few other groups that is getting ready as well. And my group's slide is only like 50% finished. Am a bit worried though, but I left at 11.30pm, still need my sleep right? ;) Stopped by Seksyen 2 to buy dinner..as I was waiting for my Nasi Goreng Pattaya, I texted few classmates.

"Salam, aku kt Shah Alam ni, volunteer jadi co-sv bdk design project,br abis discussion grp yg aku handle, sok dorang present, aku kt sek2,beli makanan ni,nostalgia betul....."

It was nostalgic, for UiTM student, sek2 is the main place for our food supply, and yes the daging merah that comes with nasi goreng pattaya still tasted the same!! could not get it anywhere else ;)

Some of the reply that I get :

E-kin: Asal ko ttiba tjebak jd volunteer ni? Ai,mmgla nostalgia....

Eza: Slm,wah bestnya.aku pon windu gila zaman belajar dulu...

Nisah (my groupmate for DP) : Yea ke? aku trkjut dpt msg ko. Mcm mana budak skrang buat design? aku dulu ingt lagi tumpg Hirda (another groupmate) naik skuter g kolej ko. dkt pg baru balik...

P-jal: mmg nostalgia....especially kalo esok ko gi skul jln kaki, pastu sampai je org wat ppt ko wat pose 'main snuker'!! Hahahaha....

Umai: Wah...best bangat! Aku rindu ms kt uitm. rindu kt environment dia...kalo dpt rase smula ms dl kn best ek..g kelas, mkn reramai...huhuhu...

I reached UiTM next morning at around 8 am. Went to school, saw the presentation schedule. Few familiar names on the panel. (Now they have Dr. with their names!!). First group start at 9am. The kids will be presenting at 11.30am. At first I was not in the panel, as I RSVP quite late, but upon seeing me, my lecturer Cik Noni, asked me to be in (she only taught me one class, yet she still remembers me (+my name)!!)

While waiting for the presentation to start, I tried to find those names that sees me before as this sleepy head with 'snuker pose' , who used to wear torn jeans to class and somehow managed to graduate. I went to their room but they were not in. I even bumped into my SV for DP and yes, he remembers me as well!!

Later, I hang out at the foyer, where everybody is. One by one familiar faces came by. Our batch is among the first few batches, so most of the lecturers that I knew are the one that started their teaching as our class being the first student. And they still remember me + my name!! I don't know whether to feel flattered or to be overwhelmed.

I went in at 9am to be part of the panel. My group is the third group, the first two groups are OK, definitely their slides are better than what the kids showed me last night, now I am getting nervous!!! I slipped out during Q&A of the second group, had a chat with the kids who are anxiously waiting outside. Gave some last minute pep talk and off we went.

All in all they did well. All of them answered the questions posed, with at least some level of confidence, I was suprised by some of the answers given. They actually fare off better than I thought that they would, and I am proud of them ;) and I will be with them still for DP2!!

On the Edge

"A girl carry with her a chair. She climbs from one floor to another. She reached 3rd floor. She tried to make way to 4th floor, but the stairs is gated. She proceed at 3rd floor. She stood on the chair,a boy saw her, trying to stop her but it was too late.

A boy, saw a girl standing on a chair. Determined of letting go. He tried to stop her, but did not succeed.

A class was in a science lab. Heard a thumping sound. Quickly ran outside. They saw whats left of a girl.

A school, shocked, traumatised by the incident. Ends a life of a bright young girl."

This is a true account of an incident . The family is someone I know, but not close. We receive the news of the daughter deceased, but cause of death was not disclosed. School keep it low, but people talked. Apparently this girl is said to be having a boyfriend, which the father did not approve. Somehow maybe there has been many other things that pushed this girl to take her own life. She was said to have posted in FB that heaven is a much nicer place for her. The family did not take any action against the school. The girl's last moments were recorded in the school's CCTV. I guess the family is aware of the ongoing battle, but did not see that she resorts to suicide. None of us would have, I guess?

Teenage is a very fragile stage, you either make it or break it. Family is important. Religious value is paramount. A life should not end this way.

An-Nisa, ayat 29
Sahih International

O you who have believed, do not consume one another's wealth unjustly but only [in lawful] business by mutual consent. And do not kill yourselves [or one another]. Indeed, Allah is to you ever Merciful.

Malay
Sesungguhnya Allah sentiasa Mengasihani kamu.

The Trouble with Love is....

I could not hold this anymore. just finished talking to a friend (more like a big sister). She's pregnant with her 7th child and her 'beloved' husband is now having a young girlfriend. She was looking for a shoulder to cry on. She keeps telling me how she loss sleep over the man's behaviour.

That is the problem with women, they love somebody to much and keep everything very dear to them. I keep on telling her its not her fault that the man went out with some young chic. He's probably having the so called 'mid life crisis' - (konon...), man seems to have excuses for all the things that they do in life.

Women makes the biggest mistakes when they love a man more than they love themselves. I guess probably that is the reason I'm not married till today, a friend once said, I'm too in love with myself. Some people define loving yourself by taking good care of themselves, which means you keep in good shape, physically fit all the time.

Well my way of taking care of my self is more on the spiritual side, I have guards, walls, or whatever you may call it, so that I won't be hurt. It would be a lie if I say I never got hurt, but I NEVER let myself to love anybody more than myself (apart from my mother and siblings) but people outside, friends especially, I'm sorry to say, I love myself above you. And I guess that is why I rarely been bogged down if a friend suddenly 'dissapeared' or people don't like me. Because I know nobody would love me like I do, so why bother?

Back to this friend's story, I told her to be strong, she has kids that depends on her. Some other day she will loss appetite and will not be eating after an overnight argument with the 'man'. In the end she and her poor baby will suffer. I tried to remind her to be strong, women are not supposed to rely on men to make them happy, we must make ourself happy. I sort of said something like this to her.. ...

"I know that it is hard, you are husband and wife, he is the father of your kids, but you must be strong, you must not let him determine how you feel, you must take care of yourself, nak-nak lagi ada yang dalam perut tu. The baby will count on you to take care of her, the 'man' don't give a damn. If anything happens, he will surely blame you, so you have to be strong, insyaAllah, Allah is with you.."

The man is egoistic, she said that he told her, if ever you are feeling oppressed, zikir, solat sunat, Allah will help you (pandai kan nasihat orang?) and when my friend did all these and still feels depressed, he said nampak sangat Allah tak sayang my friend. How can he say that, you guys imagine, a woman, pregnant, + kids at home + busy with work, suddenly the husband main kayu tiga with some young chic, hati siapa tak hancur? And he is so bold making that kind of statement.

So again to stress my stand. Do not ever love anybody more than you love Allah, your mother and yourself. I pray the best for her.

p/s: I know some people would give me this statement, ko senang la cakap, ko tak kahwin lagi, cuba dah kawin tgk macam mane?
my answer would be, I learnt from others' mistakes, and I would be a fool if I still repeat what others do, not to say I know everything, am learning at the same time, but I always prioritise myself above anybody else (except my mother) insyaAllah I'll be fine.

Allah Lebih Sayangkan dia....

We are welcoming the new year, bet many are recollecting their moments of 2009. I never thought it would come to this day. One of my closest friend passed away this morning. She has been sick for quite a while. Last communication I had with her was during her birthday on 3rd Dec 09. She was opting for traditional meds after being in and out of hosp for 2-3 times. She sounds hopeful, I wanted to see her quite a few times but I guess she was to embarrassed with her condition. I should have insisted. And now I could not see her forever....

My dear friend, Rasidah Md Yusof passed away this morning at the age of 28. May she rest in peace and may this be a reminder to all of us that living is not just about living, how prepared are we to go 'there'?. May Allah bless her soul and I know Allah loves her more than I do.....

Aminn......

Let's Read the Quran

I have been so self indulged lately, till I forgot the spiritual side of myself. Am at this workshop at work and managed to surf blogs that I have been neglecting recently. Stumbled upon this campaign by MM and I deserve some slap in the face, yup definitely deserve it.

I am reminding myself to take time and make use of it more wisely, learn and truly understand on the hidden treasure in the Holy Quran. I used to read on weekly basis, back in Uni days but now I sort of drop off the routine from my daily to-do-stuffs. I don't have a tafsir with me, but I'll begin reciting again. Well it takes small steps before a big leap.
Ya Allah, give me enough strength and willpower to keep this resolution. Give me endurance to stay on your track, and give your blessing in what I intend to do...Amin..
